A standard Google Maps embed loads straight from Google's servers. On page load — before the visitor touches the map — Google receives their IP address, their device details, and the location the map is centered on: your practice. For a fertility clinic or a behavioral health office, "this person looked up directions to us" is exactly the kind of disclosure behind the pixel lawsuits. And the free embed has no BAA behind it — Google doesn't sign one for Maps.

Visitors can tap use my location and instantly see which office is closest. The distance math happens on their own phone — their location is never transmitted, not even to us. And directions open in Google Maps, Apple Maps, or Waze only when the visitor deliberately taps Directions: a choice they make, not a request your page makes for them. That handoff sends the office address but no referring page URL, page title, or starting location. The provider still receives the normal data from a direct visitor session, such as IP address, browser details, and any of its cookies.
